Cotton Woven
Most commonly used, this versatile fabric has no stretch, is easy to sew with for beginners and is both durable and comfortable to wear. Amazing and soft, our woven has a beautiful tight weave making it perfect for digital printing.
Cotton woven fabric is great for projects of all types, from quilting to children and adults clothing. Our bright fabrics hold the colour well and has a beautiful flowing drape that softens with wash and wear.
PLEASE ALLOW: and understand there may be variations with ink colours between print runs and between different fabric bases. Colours may differ between your monitor or phone display and the finished print. This is something that while we do try to minimise occurring, can happen with custom digital printing and is out of our control. This is not seen nor considered a fabric fault and will not be regarded as such.
What are some ideas I can make with this fabric?
Bags, children’s clothing, bibs, skirts, shorts, shirts, scrunchies, dresses, scrubs, sheets and pillow cases and more.
Woven cotton is versatile for all makes. It has a forgiving drape that “flows” rather than falling or grabbing when worn. It’s structured nature makes it easy to work with as it holds its shape and presses well to allow more professional lines and finishes with your garments.
Woven cotton is a natural fibre that is highly breathable, making it a lovely and relaxed fabric to wear. It will allow moisture to be absorbed and drawn away from the skin rather than repelling and holding moisture to the skin. Easily worn all day and great for warmer climates and warmer months of the year.
WASHING AND CARE OF WOVEN FABRIC - (use as a guide only)
Pre-wash fabric the same way you would intend to wash your finished product.
We recommend machine washing fabrics with like colours on a cool, gentle cycle. Avoid any harsh detergents, bleach or softeners. White vinegar works great to retain absorbency and softness while baking soda will help to deodorise any stubborn smells from the fabric. Do not wring fabrics out, simply shake out creases and line dry immediately after washing, in shade and inside out to best retain fabric colour and integrity. Can be tumble dried and ironed on a hot setting with plenty of steam.
SEWING TIPS FOR YOUR WOVEN FABRIC
Woven fabrics are a great starting point for beginners. Pre-wash and press woven fabrics prior to cutting your pattern pieces. Woven fabric edges may fray so using pinking shears, a zig zag stitch, serger or a french seam may help trouble shoot this issue during your process and allow a neat and tidy finish.
Use a sharp 70/10 to 80/12 needle with a cotton, polyester or poly/cotton blend thread. Polyester threads work well, are durable and strong and will wear well as the garment ages. Start with a straight stitch at 2 to 2.5 in stitch length. Backstitch the beginning and end to secure your work in place.
Have fun and happy sewing!
